"There are 8 million stories in the naked city" were the opening words of a program on the radio years ago that morphed into a favorite TV show. I got to wondering how many stories about cats are out there on the Internet from the many felineophiles that connect through the joy of sharing their lives with cats.

One of the stories that recently graced my mailbox was from Catwoman Catera, who shares her life with a very special kitty named Tika. After going to her local shelter with her sister to find a kitty for adoption, she spied out of the corner of her eye a sweet calico that they immediately fell in love with. They made the arrangements to have her spayed and came back three days later to pick her up, only to find that she had been given away.
After exchanging some unpleasant dialog with the shelter manager, her sister pointed out a Siamese cat in the corner. After a few minutes they decided to take her home. Catwoman Catera did not bond with the cat immediately, but now Tika is the joy of her life. Her beauty shines through in the photo above.
Tika began to bounce off walls and was overactive. After her vet diagnosed her with hyperthyroidism, she went to live with Catera's mom, who had more time to spend caring for her. However, she got out and was missing for several days. After a frantic search, she was found under the house. She had gotten into an accident and was severely injured, with a broken jaw and a front leg dangling.
Tika was rushed to the vet with the family in tears. Though she escaped any internal injuries, her jaw was wired and her front leg was amputated. After she healed, did her amputation slow her down? Not for a moment.
Catera called her local news station to tell them about the drivers that speed down her street without paying attention to the pets that may be outside. They did a feature story about Tika and her narrow escape from death's door, and she became a local star.
Tika loves to play. She opens cabinets, runs without any impediments, and at 6 years of age, she acts like a kitten. She hides out under the tub, loves to take naps in the sun in a protected area, and has no idea that she is different from other cats. Rolling is one of her favorite pasttimes.
I love stories like this one. It shows how the bond of love can cement relationships between cats and their "fur" moms and dads. I bet there are many other wonderful stories out there in the "naked" Internet.
Do you have a story about a special cat in your life? Leave a comment and tell it to us.

1. Thank you for telling my story... It's beautiful! Tika says 'thanks' too! :)
