July 29 marks six months since Barbaro, the legendary racehorse, lost his most important race ... the one to save his life following his injury during the Preakness. Barbaro fans all over the world will always remember him for his beauty, his courage, his huge heart and his stunning speed in competition.
But it is not just that his story touched so many of us. We honor him for the many contributions his legacy has made to all horses. His hoofprints may be found in horse rescue groups, in the pending American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act and in research to prevent and cure the devastating disease laminitis.
This beautiful video was created by wallyluva in loving tribute.

1. Thanks so much for putting into words exactly what Barbaro meant to so many of us. For many of us, he was a race horse second - a stunning example of perserverance, strength and patience, first. We will always miss him - forever follow his lead.
