I got some pug love over the weekend:
Once my new client Tito realized that I had treats with me, he did lots of this:

That intense gaze. Very serious. Very determined. And very successful in getting me to empty my pockets for him.
Lola was fairly green when it comes to training, so we worked on polite leash walking, basic recalls, and curbing her "bossy big sister" attitude. (It's Lola's world and Tito is just livin' in it.)
If you read The 'Bub regularly you know that I'm a sucker for brachycephalic breeds, but not everybody agrees. Some people even think -- horrors! -- that they're homely. Let's hear from all of you squish-face fans out there! What is it about those funny little faces -- pugs, Bostons, boxers, Frenchies -- that makes us love them so much?

21. We have a rescued Pug/Chi mix named Daisy. She looks like a mini-pug. She had been kicked in the head and her left eyeball was ruptured and infected when we got her. She lost her eye, but otherwise recovered completely. She is now spayed, too. She rules over the other dogs in the household, is a loving bundle of energy, and holds no grudges for her ill-treatment during her puppyhood (she was just 10 mos. old when she was hurt). When she came home with her belly and face covered in bright blue stitches, one of our friends nicknamed her Frankendog. If any dog can laugh at a joke made about itself, it has to be a pug. And she has been laughing every day since!!
