Leo Licks the Masseur

At Woofstock in Harrisburg, Pa., a couple of months ago, my dog-nephew Leo received the royal treatment from masseur Jeff Brabant. Jeff and his wife Claudia also offer human massage, but this was, after all, Woofstock! Leo loved his massage.

Here's Claudia treating her own dog, Lexus Mercedes (a luxury rottweiler?), a former search and rescue dog who doesn't get up and down hills as well as she used to. Claudia noticed that Lexus was walking a little stiffly, but a massage and a refreshing drink of water put a visible spring back in this dog's step.

2. Leo spent six months in a shelter. They treated him very well, and without a doubt, saved his life. He tends to be a little shy around new people, so the mental benefits of having a positive interaction with a stranger did him as much, if not more, good than the massage itself. The benefits were two-fold.

3. Woof, woof!! My dachshund, Penny 14, loves having her back and neck massaged. She was born with a detached retina of the left eye. She has since developed poor sight in the right and become hard of hearing, but she still 'gets around' quite well.

4. i know animals love a massage i know my cat does at times i am to lazy but he sits there and wont budge a massage from head to tail he eats that up yes even cats leak your hand,and this fat cat knows exactly when to bug me for a massage he lays himselve down outomaticly looks at me and lets me know,and who says animals are stupid i think god gave them the brain and to us what was left over do animals make mistakes no we make them everyday

5. i just got my first puppy a couple months ago! he is the absolute love of my life! i'm so glad to learn that massage is good for dogs! i love to spoil him!
