Cute Cat Photos....

We have a very special "photo widget"... Huh, I hear you say? A widget? What does that have to do with pets?
Well, it is quite simple - this shows cat photos that you have sent to us. You can take this and put it on your own blog or even on your myspace, aim profile or facebook page. Take a look....

Ginger the tabby cat

As I wrote yesterday, Tracy has a cute english bulldog puppy (see the photo and you'll know why I said that). Tracy also adopted a cat too... And everything seems to be just fine.

Tracy writes "This photo is of our tabby cat Ginger. We adopted her from a local shelter in Virginia in December as a Christmas surprise for my son. They have been the best of friends ever since. She just celebrated her second birthday but she's still somewhat kittenish in size and personality which is fine by us. She was just about to step out of the house onto our sun porch when this photo was taken and was on full alert for bulldogs or birds."

We'll share more of the adventures of Chief (the bulldog) and Ginger (the tabby) in coming weeks.

Cute English Bulldog Puppy... all say "ahh..........."

This is sure to make you smile.... Tracy (who works at AOL on myAOL) has a recent addition to her family...
Look at Chief..., what a cutie!

Tracy writes "This is a picture of our bullie, Chief Highnote. He was just eight weeks old at the time. We fell in love with him at first sight and fortunately for us he was still available from the breeder. He was our first English Bulldog and we just adore all of his bullish traits, so much so that we got a second bulldog! Chief is now full-grown and weighs about 50 pounds, but he is still just as wrinkly and cuddly. He may not be the type of dog to run a marathon, but he never leaves my side inside the house or out, and he snores loud enough to drown out my husband."

Halloween Costumes for your doggy!

It will soon be Halloween! And while it's trick and treat for humans, dogs also get in the fun too... Some pics here show this spooky time!

Kitten Fun

Here's a jolly little video with a Persian cat named "Little One". She's much older now, but as you can see from this video she had a lot of character when just months old.

Enjoy!

Our AOL Journals blogging product has a neat way to embed "Polls" into them... So I thought I'd have some fun and see what you think about the cutest cat out of these 3 here.... Vote for one, it's really easy! And be sure to leave a comment. ;-)

From Dogs to Cats, Gerbils to Ferrets ...

Another of our products at AOL is myAOL. If you've used my Yahoo or MSN, you'll know that myAOL can be a great place for your own personalized start page.

They have just added some great pet content, a bunch of different topics from Dogs and Cats to Ferrets and Gerbils, and lovely Bunny Rabbits. As a fellow Brit, I didn't realize that ferrets were that popular here -- but I guess they have some following in the USA too. You can also get your daily AnimalHubbub updates too!

Cats That Fetch Like Dogs

Some long weekend fun for our fellow AnimalHubbub users. I was amazed when I first got Coal, one of my cats, that he loved to bring a fluffy ball to me and drop it. Then he would wait, until I threw it. Then he'd bring it back. Then repeat the pattern, until he is bored. This could go on for 20 to 30 minutes, before he decided it was time to stop.

He still does this, to this day -- 4 years on. Dropping the ball. Sometimes at 11PM at night he will want to do this. Anyway, it struck a chord, since most cats don't seem to like to play fetch. The difference between a cat and a dog is the cat decides when they are done. If I just get the fluffy ball and decide to play fetch, Coal doesn't do it unless he wants too.

Here's a little video of Coal fetching the ball.

Does your cat do some funny things? Send us some cat-tales -- we love to get them and feature them.

Cats Make You Smile

I snapped this photo of my two cats (Coal and Little One) today. No matter what kind of mood I maybe in, cats make me smile. I suspect you have similar thoughts too.... Just look at this one -- walk upstairs to the bedroom, and both on the bed in very comfy positions!

A Cat That Swims?

This is a really interesting cat tale -- a cat that scuba dives and swims?

Sleepy Kitten

This is a very popular video showing a sleepy little kitten. Check it out -- it's cute!

Cats : Side by side?

These two cats in this video seem to be together all the time. Do your cats act like this, and follow each other around? Or would they prefer to be loners?

When a Cat Goes Away

I thought I'd share a sad experience to fellow pet lovers. My first cat "Yeti" was one that was adopted – she was the neighborhood cat, and the neighbor moved, left Yeti and she became our cat. She was old, a little grumpy, but also a delight. She moved in and adopted us. Prior to Yeti, I didn't know I liked cats!

Three years later, one day I could not find her. For 4 days, she was not around. I looked everywhere for Yeti, and did not find her. I made flyers. I went up and down the street, in alleys, in odd places. And still I could not find her.

Then on the 5th day, Tommy figured it out. We went out the house, into the alley again and shouted "Yeti" ... A faint sound came from behind a fence ... and then we found her. Underneath rocks, behind a steel cyclone fence. She was not in good shape.

The emergency vet said she went off to die. This struck me as strange. Why would she do that? She was our pride and joy – she ran the house. Anyway, she was pretty ill, and the next 2 weeks meant giving her a lot of medicine. It's hard to give a cat an injection – they struggle a lot (and hiss). Sadly, three weeks later she passed away.

I wrote this because pet lovers must have sad stories like this that can help others get through it. When cats suddenly disappear, it is such a horrible feeling. But my advice is they are normally not that far away from the house – just go and look in the place that seems most obvious. I still don't understand why they go away – that remains a puzzle.
